I am taking part in #MyEDSChallenge and #MyHSDChallenge with the Ehlers Danlos Society. Since May is EDS awareness month, every day I will be sharing something about myself and my EDS journey to drive further awareness and community.

Day 12- Nurses & Healthcare workers

“This week we celebrate the incredible nurses who care for and make a difference in the lives of people living with EDS and HSD. We celebrate people living with EDS and HSD who have become nurses, helping change the world each day through the validation and care they give to others.”- EDS Society

I can’t imagine being a nurse even without a chronic condition like EDS, let alone with one. Thank you to all the nurses and healthcare professionals who took the time to listen and educate themselves about rarer issues. For those who confided in me that they also had a chronic issue. To all the healthcare workers who had to re adjust their life dreams/goals after they realized they had EDS and other co-morbidities. It’s not easy to dedicate your life’s work to something only to realize your body needs more rest than you’re giving it in your current job. Thank you to those who keep helping and educating and who are helping patients go through some of the hardest times of their lives in hospitals getting testing or procedures. You listen to patients stories, hold their hands, wipe their tears and much much more. ❤️
