Actually, it’s been three weeks and four days that we’ve been in a self-imposed lockdown. Our days have not been much different than our normal days other than the lack of presence of people, especially children type people. We have always been the official 40th Ct Grandparents. Most of the children do not have grandparents nearby. In fact, none of the children in the photos below have any nearby grandparents. The mom in the pool photo is Irish and she’s an orphan. Isn’t she lovely? The two little blonde boys are hers and Kormack and Kian. The older blonde girl’s grandparents are in Canada. Both her mother and the Irish girl say that I am their neighborhood Mom.

In the top photo at the restaurant, he blonde girl, Syd and the darker haired girl, Ellie are the same age. Syd lives at the very opposite end of this 400 home neighborhood. We were caring for her for six days while her mother had to fly out of the country. I wanted Syd and Ellie to meet so we invited Ellie out to dinner with us the first night she was here. They became besties immediately. Neither one of them is prissy or foo foo. They are my kind of girls, low maintenance.

There is another blonde girl in the pool picture. She is Delaney. Yesterday was her tenth birthday. Her parents did an automobile scavenger hunt. We all made signs and wished her well. It was great to see everyone even if from a safe distance. Ollie was thrilled to see the street kids.

I've been enjoying the slower pace, but I'll be ready to get back to the life of birthday parties and BBQs, I think.

How nice! They add another dimension to your life. Enrich it.

Oh, my goodness, that's a lot of surrogate grands! :)

Aw that’s lovely - providing that surrogate grandparent rôle is so vital to these kids I bet. I am so fortunate to be so close to mine :)
