Tying back in.. in Day to Day

..to my last entry, remember how I cleaned the hell out of my bathroom? Yeeeah, that was a very good thing, because that night Nathan went vomit-comet all over the floor, which had previously had things on it but now (tfg) did not! Made cleanup much easier. He also had a poop-splosion later. It was great.

Sunday did not have me feeling better. I called in Monday and uses Teladoc to get a note, and he gave me some steroids. Tuesday was supposed to be an easy 4-hour day, so I went in.. and made myself miserably carsick. I left an hour later with Thomas and went straight to my Dr’s office. As expected, I developed an inner ear infection which was messing up my equilibrium. Cue one penicillin shot to the butt via my fave LVN. (His name is Burt and he’s fab.) Plus another day home and antibiotics.

On a brighter note, my BP was perfect and my doctor commented on my 40lb loss over the last year! I’ve been waiting to hear about that for months!

So (call me crazy, I know I’m sick) I started keto and intermittent fasting Monday. I kid you not, I dropped 4lbs overnight. This morning, down another 1.5lbs. I haven’t used the strips to actually check for ketones, but I’m definitely shedding weight (mostly water, I’d bet, though my scale puts my body water % pretty high for me?) But I’ve found that keeping my eating between 10am and 8pm is actually really easy for me. It’s what I do on the weekends anyway, just out of habit. I’m sure keto isn’t going to be thrilling, but if I can drop about 20-30lbs before I buy my wedding dress for August (10 year vow renewal/time for pretty pictures!!) I will be sooo happy. And Thomas is doing it with me, which is awesome. Also.. I’m 30lbs away from getting myself a new motorcycle. 😍 We made a deal that once I hit that number, I could replace my bike. Scooooore!

So for less wonderful news, my darling teenager made a severely not-amusing comment about threatening to tell our caseworkers bad things about me. We told our caseworker ahead of time and had a very serious discussion about what exactly was wrong with what she said. She tried to play it off as a joke, and I said, “Yeah, no.” So that was fun. Had our caseworker over, that went fine. Gotta be ready for licensing to come by next week, as well as A’s caseworker. Yaaay. But tfg my dears, I have a (please let me be healthy) 4-day weekend over Memorial day, HURRAY!

So it’s been a mixed bag lately, but I’m getting by. ❤

Congratulations on the weight loss, that's kick-ass!

Thank you! I doubt it'll keep up this pace even on keto, but I'm enjoying it!

I’m not surprised! My boss has lost a lot of weight on keto. It doesn’t look like much fun but it certainly gets results (provided you stick with it 100%)...I’ve been tempted to try it but my husband can’t because of his diabetes and I don’t think I could stick with it on my own!

I'm surprised he can't do keto because of diabetes. I've read that some studies show improvement in blood sugar control and A1c levels in diabetics on keto. Obv not an endocrinologist, of course.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s true for type 2 diabetics, but my husband’s a type 1, and his diabetes specialist told him on no uncertain terms to steer clear of keto...For him, blood sugar getting too low is just as dangerous as too high.

Ah, gotcha.

My youngest son did Leto and lost 30 pounds . Now he does it intermittently to keep it off . He actually likes eating that way :-)
