$1600 later, my car has returned home this evening. I hugged her and told her I missed her. No, I’m not joking or exaggerating. Still need to find someone to replace the catalytic converters and Thomas will change the spark plugs, otherwise she’s happy. Also got an answer to the question of it burning oil and a reasonable solution to be implemented at the next oil change.
Within 3 hours of having her back, I had 64’ of 2x2 lumber piled in it to make 4 blanket ladders this weekend because I’m dumb and volunteer my skills and know-how to save everyone money. I didn’t have to pay for any of it, at least! This is why having a starbucks right next to home depot is a bad idea. This is not the first time this has happened. So that will be my weekend project.
Unsure of my car status, I told a friend I couldn’t make it to his (3+ hour drive away) wedding. Do I have my car back? Yes. Am I going to the wedding? Mmm, no. Among other things.. We really do need to change the spark plugs, because at least one of them was completely fried and they didn’t pull the rest to check (thinking they were supposed to be warrantied by another shop.. But no..), so no long-distance driving until then, and she’s our main ride. Going 3+ hours with my toddler in a car with nothing to do is not my idea of fun. At least in my car he has the DVD player. (Don’t even mention the words ‘screen time’ or I’ll mail my kid to you until you apologize.)
Early day tomorrow, but I’m trying to unwind from the latte I had at 8. Not my brightest idea, but it was delicious. I have no shame. I’ll get back to my diet next week, when I’m not on my came-a-week-early-even-with-birth-control period and my car is not trying to die. It’s been a doozy of a week.
