I have an interview for an entry level librarian position for my ultimate dream job: public librarian.
-It’s in Arivaca
-It’s an hour and 15 minutes from my house
-It’s open Tues - Sat until 6 (except Tues when its open until 8)
-It’s likely a 1 librarian library, meaning if I got the job, I’d be the manager of the branch (great experience); and
-I probably have a good chance of getting the job (who wants to work in Arivaca???) AND
-I’d get the hell out of the health department… well, my boss really.
-My boys are in sports, Dylan’s basketball practice started and its on Wed and Thurs from 6-7
-Mason is in football now, so his dad will take him to practice and I’ll have to get him to most games
-I’ll have to take Dylan to his basketball games
I just dont see how this will work.
Tyler has his golf and just isnt involved with my boys enough to want to take on these “chores.”
Their dad will be busy with football and coaching his own team.
Even if I could depend on Maya when she isnt working, its really not fair for her to be put into this position and even if she just took Dylan to his practices, the library closing at 6, it would take me an hour and a half before I could pick him up.
If the library was in town and the hours were similar, it MIGHT be easier… but likely not.
Tyler thinks I should just go get a teaching certificate and work in a school library for now. At least then the days/hours are still mon-fri.
I think I’m going to decline the interview. It will be IN Arivaca, so I’d need to drive there, interview, drive back when I know I really wont be able to take the job.
I’m so freaking bummed.
