Wherein I rant about Wal-Mart. in The Big, Blue House, year one.

I prefer to buy my cat food from Chewy, but Wal-Mart had/has one-day shipping, so while I wait for the Chewy order to get here from Florida, (Why is it in Florida? It’s not exactly a centralized location if you want to ship to as many states as conveniently as possible, particularly to Ohio.), I bought a spare bag from Wal-Mart with next day delivery.

On the page for the cat food it said “1 day shipping”. Once I’d paid for it, it said “delivery from store”. The following day, when it should’ve been delivered, it said “delayed”. Now, two days after I bought it, it says “on the way”, with tracking showing it just left Nevada via Fed Ex and is expected to arrive the 13th, a full nine days after I bought it.

A day before I bought the cat food, I bought a big red striped bow for Don, because he wants to put it on the light post in the yard. It also said “1 day shipping”. It says “delayed” now, and has been that way for two days. I’ll ask customer service, and probably get a refund, as I don’t expect it to ever get here.

On November 29th, I bought several cans of chicken for my elderly cats. It also said “1 day shipping” on the pages for the chicken, then “delivery from store” once it was paid for, on the orders page.

The following day it said:
“Delivery attemptednull
We’ll try again later, but we were unable to deliver your order, so we’re returning it to the store.”

So I chatted with someone in customer service, who said that a delivery driver had accepted the order, then changed their mind, so the store was looking for another delivery driver to take it.

Said customer service person gave me a refund, and a $5 promo code.

I’ve had a lot of 1- day - deliveries from Wal-Mart. They used to just have an employee bring the item to your house.

Apparently, as of late last month, someone made the grand decision to outsource the 1 - day - deliveries to a company like Shipt.

But since the check out process for shipping, one day or otherwise, gives you no option to pay a tip, of course nobody is taking the orders, you out of touch buffoon.

Tonight, looking at Wal-Mart, at things I’d had delivered next day in the past, like dry cat food, scouring pads, and light bulbs, shockingly 1 day delivery is no longer an option on anything that I looked at.

I saw that coming yesterday.

I wonder how many $5 promo codes they gave out, and how that expense weighs against the lost orders, and the employee time that they would’ve spent delivering the orders like they did before.

So tonight the cats are having boiled chicken that Don cooked himself, and tomorrow a regular grocery delivery, including cat food, is coming from Wal-Mart, with a tip, because “delivery from store” has a place in the check out for you to give them one.

I hope whoever put in motion this asinine series of events gets demoted for it.
