Quarantine day 14

Heavy rain yesterday in Kaohsiung. It rained some sort of rain most of the day. I didn’t think it ever rained here. I’ve never been here when it’s rained.

Just like the Inuit allegedly have 30 different ways to describe snow, the Taiwanese have several ways to describe rain. The Plum Rain, for example is the late spring/early summer rainy season.

Yesterday when we were out getting our nose holes attacked, it was 毛毛雨, a light misty rain. But later it really came down, tropically, like in the tropics.

It’s interesting. In Canada we have heavy rain sometimes, but it is a heavier, more violent rain there. Often windy, sometimes electrical. Here, the heavy rain has a Zen quality about it. It comes straight down. The rain is heavy but peaceful, like a weighted blanket.
I’m overthinking it.

What I wanted to say, what started this thought was that this morning when the sun came up, the sky was a beautiful light blue, near cloudless.
Yes. This is the last day of quarantine. I’m in a happy mood.

Singsong lady waited til late in the afternoon before checking in. She got right to the point. Did you go to the hospital and have your test?
Uh huh.
What time?
9:30.
I’m not going to miss her. I barely know her.

So, today I’m going to unfold my bike. I’m betting that the tires will need air. So I’ll be going along the canal to the bike shop. I’m betting that the 老闆 will remember me.

I’m going to be out and about. The light yoga, push ups and stretching is the only exercise I’ve gotten over the past two weeks, not near enough, (though my sore arm is almost totally recovered - 80%).

My computer sends me my screen time for last week. I averaged 8 hours and 20 minutes of screen time per day. Here are some notable numbers:
Safari: 5 hours 39 minutes/day
YouTube: 2 hours 9 minutes
Netflix: 50 minutes
Mail: 30 minutes
Prosebox: 27 minutes
Reddit: 27 minutes
Wordle: 8 minutes.
