Light Pollution in Ok,Boomer

It’s been a long time that I have not seen the stars. It seems rare these days living in suburbia that I have seen genuine DARKNESS. For those of you living in the country away from urban environments, you can look up into the sky and see the universe. Here, streetlights, car lights, house lights and business/shop lights.

LIGHT POLLUTION.

I was reminded of this by how a neighbor on one side of me has recently left her back light on wether by accident or design. I think she’s just a stupid bitch that doesn’t care about others. I think about the same of the people on the OTHER side of my house that leave external lights on all night long. I can understand they may do it to deter thieves since the man there owns a business. I keep my blinds and draperies closed as a result of all this light pollution. Lights are fine if there is a skunk roaming about and a person wants to make it less comfortable for it to roam and stink. It is tempting to contact the woman I think is a stupid bitch about her light being on. I am hoping she just left it on by accident. I have put a blanket over the bedroom window as a 3rd layer to try to sleep better.

I am highly sensitive to NOISE pollution but the recent light blasting through my bedroom window has made me acutely aware of how much LIGHT pollution there is. Lighted streets are great. Love ‘em! But there is so much use of light that is not necessary. I limit my use of house lights.

I see with some humor how I live besieged by noise and light. UNWANTED and thus “pollution”.

I remember once, driving through Iowa long long time past, I took a VERY big wrong turn and ended up on some farmers property way out in the sticks. As I sat there getting my bearings and feeling like a dumbass, I looked up into that night sky and saw those star things. Those lights up above us we can sometimes see. I WAS relieved to get out of there before I got shot at.

Remember the early days of the covid stay at home order when everything was dark and quiet....kinda miss it.

Good point. I remember how here in the USA few years ago there was a massive black out for about a week. Things got quiet and dark. Drive around here with NO lights on but cars. Fucking EERIE but cool!

My neighbor across the street leaves their porch light on all night, every night and it's annoying. I did ask them about it and they do it for theft prevention. I would rather they have a motion light so it will turn off after awhile but oh well.
I keep the inside of my house fairly dark. The mood lighting, as I like to call it, keeps the kiddos from being super hyper and keeps a nice chill vibe.

Mobile home park. Glaring light. No reason for it to be on on my side. I am reluctant to ask her about it because she has shown some big time ignorance in the past. How dare I come to her door and dislike her bullshit! ;-)
I keep the inside of my house dark but keep the furnace on at a good temperature and lights in some place for the birds.
