People Feeling They HAVE To Write SOMETHING Each Day in Ok,Boomer

Let me see now… (counting) this is my 5th entry. Not me! Noooo! I have no feeling I HAVE to write SOMETHING! No not ME! OTHER people do!

It’s amusing to me. I have seen people on here writing about how they feel like writing but they cannot. I compare it very vulgarly to the idea some have that they JUST HAVE TO TAKE A DUMP EVERY DAY! Which I guess it is, a WORD dump.

I am often self-conscious about writing. “WHY”? I will be thinking about that for a long time. I remember that when I was a teenager in high school I was constantly writing. I had 0 talent for anything else. I asked a writing teacher what would happen if I were to quit. He took his time in replying, thinking then said simply, “you will get sick”. He was a prophet ;-) Writing is a RELEASE for many of us. At times I have thought some people writing is like people that constantly talk: The sound of manic nonstop barking dogs. Writing is a release and a barking dog and people that talk all the time are probably neurotic.

The creator or creators of sites like this (a salute to Simple Mind) offer a mechanism for POSITIVE MENTAL HEALTH. A positive side of it are people reading and commenting in polite civil ways. A downside is that sometimes assholes come out and be assholes in comments but that is just how life is. The pluses outweigh the negatives by far.

When I was a kid in a mental hospital back in 1964, there was a teacher that I see now was a revolutionary in her approach to mental health and kids. She got me to start talking and she got me ENGAGED by telling stories that she would write down for me. She got me interested in writing. It engaged my mind. That is another positive of writing EVERY day: It keeps your mind ENGAGED. I often use a word then look it up in a dictionary to be sure it is correct. I use Grammarly to polish my writing and annoy me about my errors. It helps me continue to learn how to write.

Another great thing about writing is what I have just written. I wondered about WHY write every day? It can help us figure out the answer to a question I now do not have to wonder about in the future.

People who make multiple entries per day exhaust me when I open my unread bookmarks! Haha. I try to remember it’s more for YOU than me and if I have to skip a few to keep from drowning I will (but I don’t like to). But I totally understand the “need to write.”

I got in a shitty mood today and was going to quit this site but... 3 more entries later I worked it out ;-) I used to be on Open Diary and THAT was exhausting with some. I will try not to be too obnoxious on here ;-) Your comments always appreciated.

“When I was a kid in a mental hospital back in 1964 …”. That’s the start of a very interesting story, methinks.

It was a year of terror.

After I have written about what is on my mind, I get a strong feeling of relief. Although it doesn't usually all problems, it definitely helps.

Same thing with me like today. Thanks for your comment!
