Today marks my officially leaving the ranks of the smokers. I am an official non-smoker. I am in a nicotine cessation program. The method prescribed to me by my doctor is the nicotine transdermal system. I applied my first patch, today at 3:35 pm. Twenty four hours from now, I will take off the patch that I am wearing on my upper left arm, and will replace it with a new nicotine patch.
I will look and smell better. I will save about $35.00/ month, and I will be looking for other things to do besides going outside for a smoke. In my favor, is the fact that there are no triggers in my apt. My apts. have always been smoke-free. I do not need cigars. They are not even all that great. I’ve got this! Wish me luck.

I have been a quitter for 18yrs now. I won't lie it took a while to mentally get over smoking but it was worth it! Hang in there, be stronger than the urges and best of luck to you!

Thank you for your support, Azrael. I was just sitting at a table in the community room, where I live and two other tenants sat down to talk. That was feeling like a "trigger", (social situations). I was thinking that I wished I had a cigar in my hand. I was getting a little edgy. I went back up to my apt. after several minutes. From now on, I will take something w/ me to do such as a puzzle book.

No problem. I know how hard it can be to stop smoking. Unfortunately it took me a trip to the hospital to stop cold turkey. But I believe anyone can do it.

Yes. I guess that is why they call it nicotine "addiction".
