Life is so good!
This morning I got to sleep in until nearly 9am. The there were only two things on the calendar: grocery shop (like we do every Sunday morning) and assemble the crib! The grocery store was good. It was actually a fairly light trip, which was nice. It totaled out to about $50 less than we’re used to. When we got home, my daughter was in unusually good spirits, smiles all over the place, dancing and being silly. She had some lunch, pooped, and then played on our mini keyboard for a few minutes before reading some books and heading off for a nap. She and my husband are both asleep now.
While we were at the grocery store I went by the bakery to check out the cake selection. They had a marble cake with chocolate frosting as one of the stock cakes, which was great, and my husband pointed at an oreo ice cream cake that caught his eye as well. I’m confident I’ll be able to find one he’ll like when I go back on Tuesday without having to make any special orders, so that’s nice. I also just text messaged his mom to make sure it’s cool for me and my little girl to come by tomorrow to take a swing at assembling the desk shelves I ordered. All in all, things birthday related seem to be coming together smoothly. I wanted to put some real thought into it this year, because my husband knocked it out of the park for my last birthday.
While I was getting my daughter ready to lay down, my husband was researching swamp coolers. We decided to get a pretty heavy duty one for $300. I cannot tell you how relieved I feel to know that we won’t be melting again this summer. He wants to wait until the end of the week to order it, since that’s when he gets paid. I’m fine with that. I’m just glad we have a plan!
I’m feeling pretty good about everything work related. I currently have a couple and a family on my caseload, which are both areas I’m not too practiced in. It feels good, though. That combined with my court-ordered clients, and I really feel like I’m growing. Plus, the studying for my licensing exam has been going pretty well. I still can’t believe I have my exam date scheduled!
Now I’m about to eat some lunch and enjoy the next hour or so of quiet before we put this crib together. Gah! The butterflies…
Until next time <3
