I’m currently at the tail end of my usual three-day weekend and I must say I’m feeling much better. My daughter and I went over to see Terra, her son, and her new baby and it was just what I needed to shake my anxiety. Friends are important.
Today has been a good day as well. I woke up at 6:30am with my daughter. We did our routine that I’ve written about before. After breakfast I started a load of laundry, loaded the dishwasher, and got us both ready to go. I had my husband load the black foot bench into our car and I was able to move the second load of laundry into the drier before my daughter and I swung by the thrift store to drop off the foot bench and then made our way to the park. Last week we got some new sand toys at Target, because playing in the sand at the park is the new swinging on the swings—her favorite thing to do. We had a successful time shoveling sand, making sand animals and stomping them, and there were even a few friends at the park to socialize with. Pro tip: sand toys attract friends.
After the park we came home, moved the third load of laundry into the drier, and had lunch. Then I put my daughter down for her nap and I have the next two hours to put the laundry away and get ready for my hot date!
My husband said he is going to aim to finish working by 4pm, which is much earlier than anticipated. That’s about the same time I’ll have to wake my daughter up from her nap, and then we’ll leave to drop her off at our in-laws’ between 4:30 and 5pm (my guess is closer to 5). We decided we want to go to a local pier, walk the main street, pick a restaurant (I already looked them up on my phone and I’m pretty sure we’ll go to the Mexican place…), and then come home and enjoy some kid-free relaxation. I’m about 90% sure any sexy time is going to be postponed until tomorrow morning since I’m very likely going to be exhausted by the time we return from our dinner.
We’re still on track to build Morgan’s crib this weekend, which I’m very excited about! Next, we’ll get her wooden name sign and apple blanket in the mail. As soon as those things arrive, I’m going to do my next wave of purchases: the crib mattress, sheets, and swaddle blanket.
Terra offered to throw me a “Sprinkle” for Morgan. At first I had no desire to do a Sprinkle, but when Terra framed it as an excuse to do something with my friends, I felt slightly more tempted. I think I may give her the go ahead to schedule something with just Terra, Ashley, Anja, and Marina in her backyard. Something really low key and not expensive. I mean, shit. Any excuse for more friend time these days!
Well, I think I’m going to put on the next episode of Firefly Lane while I put this laundry away, and then I’ll start getting my hair and makeup put together for the evening.
Happy Tuesday, Prosebox! <3
