Snowpocalypse 2021: end day 1 in Day to Day

It’s now 8:30pm and we haven’t had any power back, not even a blip, and I lost most of the data capability on my network around 2pm. This is the first time PB and FB would even load.
It’s fucking cold in the house. Luckily I had a stash of tealight candles, so we have almost 2 dozen going around the room, but I’m probably going to go to sleep pretty soon. Even having my hands out to hold a book is becoming too freakin’ cold.
Booger is sleeping with us, right in between, nice and warm. The kittens have a carrier wrapped in a blanket with 2 more stuffed inside, so they should be fine. Our adult critters will be fine. They do have fur, and it’s dry inside, of course.
Our neighbor brought over a plate of food earlier: 2 smoked turkey legs, sausage, mashed potatoes, and mac n cheese, all hot. It was like freakin’ Christmas. They’re getting all the cookies when I can bake again.
It’s been a really weird day.

OOoffff! I do NOT like having power out during a cold snap. NOT fun.
Take care.
TX Tornado Mr. Mofo ⋅ February 16, 2021
It has been insane!

Yuck, winter power outages are no fun for sure. Getting everyone in one room and closing off any rooms you’re not using certainly helps! And lots of layers and blankets!

I just can't believe the power went out. Stay safe and warm!
anticlimatic ⋅ February 15, 2021
There's something just wrong about being in a house without heat.
TX Tornado anticlimatic ⋅ February 16, 2021
It's at least 30-40° warmer than outside. Better than a tent, I suppose! 😆

Good neighbors!
Jigger ⋅ February 16, 2021
We’ve had power the whole time, but our heating system cannot hang. I’m about to go to bed under a feather comforter and four or five cats.
TX Tornado Jigger ⋅ February 16, 2021
I hear ya... it's been bananas, and there's another front coming in tonight.
Jinn ⋅ February 16, 2021
Texas has really screwed up their power grid:-( . Stay wrapped up !
Lucretia ⋅ February 17, 2021
I'm still gobsmacked by the whole situation.
Hooray for awesome neighbours though.
