It is there. I do not feel quite myself. It’s like an underlying feeling of depression. I think that I may be fighting Seasonal Affective Disorder. At this point, it seems manageable. I just hope that it does not get any worse. I hope that somehow I can keep the symptoms at bay. If not, I may need an intervention. This past Friday, I thought that I was at that point. I laid down on my couch a lot, which is totally unlike myself. I am normally busy with something.
Thank God that it does not appear to be hitting me as badly as Fall of last year. I will not even go back to that point in time in this journal.
Onto other things…yesterday I made one of my mother’s cookie recipes, “Ford Cookies”. Once again, my cookies were a little flat, due to using butter. From now on, I am going to use Butter-Flavored Crisco. I hear that when using that in cookies, you obtain good results. Loretta Lynn’s recipe, “Butter Nut Chewies” , I think they are named, call for Butter-Flavored Crisco. Perhaps I will try her recipe. Anyway, yesterday I did something that I normally do not do. I used my hand mixer to mix the cookie dough, for the most part. I did mix it a little with a metal spoon, just to make sure that all of the ingredients were well-mixed. I baked from 12pm to 4 pm. They have a good taste. So far , I have three different types of cookies in my freezer. They are Mrs. Field’s Chocolate Chip Cookies, Civil War Spice Cookies, and Ford Cookies. Do you know, the cookies with the best texture, and which rose up nice ly were the ones from the cival war era recipe.
Sometimes I lokk in the freezer, and I think .....well, you have made some progress, but you have a long way to go. I’ll get there.
I have football on. The noise blocks out my drone of a neighbor that just complains, complains, complains. It is pretty bad when you keep open the door to your broom closet by the apt. door, to block out their voices. Their voices bother me. I am sorry, but they just do. Why they have to keep their door open, 24-7, I do not know. My neighbor actually said hi to me, as I left my apt., earlier. I do not need any enemies. I will gladly try to get along.
It is cloudy and overcast here, in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia, with intermittent rain. The Fall foliage is at its peak. It is about 60 degrees outside. More later.
