Weight in A restart

I’m really happy that the gyms are open, seriously. It’s been so great.

This is the one thing that is basically normal, right? Yes you have to sanitize and wear your mask in the door and out, but otherwise when you are in the gym, it’s pretty much business as usual except people actually wipe the machines down when they are done using them, AND it’s less busy.

This is just part of my trend of trying to turn this year into a positive. I mean, we can only control what happens in our little circle of control which comprises our lives and the people nearest to us. Everything going on “out there” is out there. What I can do for myself is do the best work I can do, stay as healthy as I can, physically mentally and spiritually.

Apart from this, the people who have the poorest outcomes from this virus, other than people in their 70s and 80s, are people who are obese or who have conditions that are often related… i.e. people who aren’t managing their health well have the hardest time. What can we do about that? Encourage fitness. Treadmills should be part of our national strategy.

Apart from that, there’s nothing going on. No sports, no social events, no real gatherings going on, no theater, no orchestra, no travel. People aren’t meant to stay boarded up in their homes for 2 years… the purpose of life is to live it. People need productive and healthy things to do.

So, this is me, trying to self-empower. Not going to let this thing ruin my life. Actually, because of a desire to fight back against it, things are better than ever. Making lemonade out of lemons. City going downhill and rioters burning the place - moved out of the city to a better area. Work from home situation bringing me down - set up a nice office room with some good equipment to raise productivity. Need productive outlet for time - cooking at home every night, hitting the gym every day, working on music more and harder than ever.

I’m trying. Maybe we should all quit fighting with each other online and spend our time doing the best we can in our own circles.

The gym is basically my biggest pandemic indulgence. I don't go out, I don't hang out with groups of people larger than like five, and even then only outside, I always open doors with something other than my hands if possible, I basically jump in the bushes as I walk down the sidewalk to avoid being near people, but I will visit a place that is coated in a layer of disease even in non-pandemic circumstances and touch all the things and lay all over the weight benches because they will have to pry my gains from my cold dead hands.

I've been going to the gym most days since they reopened, I love having my "me time" back. Plus I re-listen to my class lectures while there so I'm feeling like I'm doing double duty.

Oh, yeah I wonder what people did at the gym before podcasts and the like. Talk to each other? Weird!
