My bestie Mermaid gave me a gorgeous feather fountain pen for my birthday, because I’m a writer now. Dude, I almost cried at her. 😭😭😭 I love my friends. Seriously.
The four of us went to Fogo de Chao last night and had a fabulous time. Mermaid and I have our birthdays 5 days apart, so we both had a $25 off coupon and each got free desserts (overcooked creme brulee, but hey, it was free.) Otherwise the food was good and the company was great. I gave her a cute Halloween tee with zombie bees (zombees?) saying Boo. You know.. Boo-bees! 😂 And I made her a shirt that said Elle Woods 2020. Totally ripped it from a site, but it was a Chinese site and I didn’t make it to sell, so I don’t feel too bad. She loved both, and we finally gave DM his (month+ overdue) bday present, a larger version of my drinking horn because he liked mine so much. He loved his present too, so I’ll call the evening a big win.
We spent the morning getting breakfast and replacing hardware for Thomas’s desk, then took a crack at the laundry. Nathan said he wanted to fold, so after a bit I let him try, and he did it. My 4-year-old was folding his own laundry. I am so proud. It’s not perfect, but it’s better than I expected, for sure!
Now Thomas is doing a remote tutoring session, a thing he volunteers for for a veterans group. He’s a good dude. Nathan should be napping on the couch… One of my jackass dogs has taken to peeing on his bed, fuck only knows why, and we’re just going to throw out his mattress and get a new one, and some waterproof covers and self-closing hinges for his door. Until that time, he’s either on the couch or in the guest room.
I’m eyeballing the laundry.. We’ve folded a lot, but there is more, and then it needs to be put away. I have reading to do for my classes and some stuff I left off mid-project yesterday. I’m trying to get to a reasonably-caught-up point for the start of the week. I’m going to try to work into a good schedule this week, get myself moving more and eating healthier. I’ve gotta drop this fucking corona weight. Ugh.
