Thomas and I spent the weekend at a tiny BnB in a tiny town in east Texas. It was very peaceful and relaxing, and we really enjoyed reconnecting. My anxiety manifests all over the place and does make me worry about/question my relationship now and then, but really and truly, we work, and I love him like crazy. ❤
My teeth are bothering me, which sucks horribly, but hopefully it will be managed and dealt with soon. I have a root canal to get done ASAP and 4 crowns and a veneer to be placed soon, and I hope that will take care of all of it. Until then.... my teeth hurt. I’m popping ibu and tylenol pretty regularly.
My grandma is staying with us for a few days, which is less of a concern than I was worried about, so that’s going on.
Today is the first day of class for me, and I’m optimistic it will go well. I say that as I’m typing this on my phone while also listening to a rather long and rambling video going over a syllabus. I suppose I appreciate her dedication to clarity, but omg. I wish we could just be trusted to read a syllabus on our own. At least she’s not just reading it aloud? It does seem like a fair bit of handholding, but I guess there are a lot of people having to use online classes who wouldn’t normally prefer it, and they may need it.
I’ve read the first history chapter and it seems pretty interesting, so I’m hopeful that this semester will go well. It doesn’t seem like it will be an overwhelming amount of information or work. It’s a lot of reading, but I’m ok with reading. The fewer people involved in my work, the better.
Thomas is enjoying his job and I’m so happy for him! He’s such a smart guy and a hard worker, and he seems much happier getting out of the house.
The drama of the weekend.. I realized Thursday or Friday there was a nail in one of the tires of our Kia. Since we were leaving, we left it be until yesterday, at which point I discovered the Wal-Mart auto centers are all closed due to covid. I was hopeful and called anyway, and the guy looked up our road hazard coverage and let us bring it in to get it patched. Once we managed that, they told us the tread on both front tires was super low, too low to patch. 🤦 Instead of sending us on our way (since, y’know, they didn’t even have to check our tire out,) they agreed to install a new set of tires for us. So, $400 later, we ended up sitting in an empty corner of the garden center eating McDonald’s waiting for it to get finished. But, considering there are 2 storms approaching in the gulf, it is a relief to have my car fully functional.
It promises to be an interesting week, at any rate. I’m in the current forecasted path of both storms, both to hit sometime Wednesday, but of course things change constantly. I’m not really concerned about anything beyond losing power, at which point we can always run to the inlaws’ place (hooray for generators!)
I renewed my hygiene license.. I’m pretty sure I’m not done with the dental field. I miss it already.
Ok, I think this lady is almost done talking… Maybe. Hopefully.
