Yesterday, for the first time in my life, I had sex with the primary intention of making a baby.
This was extremely exciting for me! When I got pregnant with my first baby, I had no idea if I was even ovulating or not. I tried to track my menstrual cycle, pay attention to the signs, and took countless ovulation tests, but my cycle was wildly irregular and all of the tests came back negative. After having my first baby, I didn’t begin menstruating again for over a year (due to breastfeeding). My period began again this past February, and I began tracking it. To my surprise (and joy!), it seems to be regular, which means I can actually track it!
I swear, late yesterday morning, I could feel myself ovulating. I felt the mild cramp in the left ovary. I also noticed my discharge was different that day. My husband and I had a quickie on Saturday for good measure, and we planned the “romantic sex” yesterday during our daughter’s nap. I made a point of having an orgasm (or three) and of tipping my hips up for fifteen minutes after we finished. That’s a trick I learned from Roseanne (LOL) back in the day before I knew she was… who she turned out to be. I read that there is no solid research that doing this works, but I have also concluded that no research doesn’t mean it doesn’t work.
I know that people time their sex in order to get pregnant and still don’t, but I’m just so thrilled that timing it was even an option for us. I am actually going to take a pregnancy test at home to see if it worked. That will also be a first for me, haha.
Send me pregnancy vibes, please!
