Maximizing Myself in Staying Connected

I just created my calendar for the month of July, and it’s going to be a busy month.

I’m adjusting my work calendar slightly to accommodate my workout routine. The way it was, I was finishing work around 6:20pm and getting dinner started around 6:30pm. The several days per week we were eating meals that required us to pre-heat the oven, we wouldn’t end up eating until around 7:20pm. Trying to do an intense workout thirty minutes after eating a large meal was not working for obvious reasons.

My new plan is to push my last session back thirty minutes. I’ll use that thirty minutes to prepare dinner, including preheating the oven and putting the food in if appropriate. I’ll start my last session around 6:00pm and my husband will be home by 6:30pm to remove any food I may have started that takes longer than thirty minutes to cook, or to put in any food that needs less than 30 minutes to cook. I’ll finish the session and then eat right away, around 6:50pm. This way, an intense workout at 8pm is much more likely to be successful.

After some discussion, my husband decided he wants to go for a jog a couple mornings per week. So, on Wednesday and Friday instead of a “family walk,” I’m going to be taking my daughter with me on a “power walk.” I like walking faster anyway. On Monday evening and Thursday morning, we will still do the family walk.

July is also the month that the home projects really start to come to fruition. I’m ordering our roller shades this coming Tuesday and plan to have my husband install them the first Monday of the month. The following Monday we’ll do the storage cabinet – tree shuffle. There is a possibility that once we move all of these things around, we’ll decide to get rid of some of our daughter’s toys and replace them with new ones. She’s getting old enough to potentially be interested in one of those cute little kitchen setups for toddlers, but we currently have no space for something like that.

Speaking of my daughter, I just bought her a memory game because she’s really into cards with pictures on them right now. It’s arriving tomorrow. I’m excited to see if she likes it.

Another new addition to my monthly routine is going to be a family deep clean day. It will be on the last Monday of each month. Tomorrow will be our first family deep clean day. On July’s monthly deep clean day, I plan to do the video tour of the condo and post it here.

I just bought our family plane tickets to visit my family in Washington in August. So that will be interesting. It’s going to be a three hour plane ride one day followed by a three hour car ride the next day. We’ll stay at a house on a lake for five days, and then do the three hour car ride back to my parents house followed by a three hour plane ride home the next day. I have no idea how this will play out in real life or if I should be worried about how my daughter will handle it.

And that’s it. I think I’m going to take a quick shower to rinse the kickboxing sweat off myself and then enjoy a modest glass of white wine. Hope you’re all having a lovely evening.
