I was thinking of making unique face coverings and selling them on etsy. I have been told starting up on etsy costs a lot. I have no experience doing so. How do one estimate their prices? Are they better off selling on facebook? Any advice? I want to try to do a small business as a side hustle.

If you do a Google search on "pros and cons of selling on Etsy" you will find tons of information.

From the Etsy Site:

"$0.20 Listing fee
Listings are active for four months, or until they sell.

5 % Transaction fee, 3% + $0.25 payment processing fee
When you sell an item, there's a small commission and standard payment processing fee.

15% Offsite Ads Fee*
Etsy pays to advertise your items across the web through Offsite Ads. You only pay a fee when you make a sale from one of those ads. Learn more about advertising fees"

As for cost, I would do research to find out the prices that others are setting and I would set my price to the top side of average.

I used to sell jewelry on Etsy, and I did okay. What's hard is that there are just so so many people selling things on there that it's hard to keep your stuff from getting buried. The only way to do that is to build an online following on social media.

I feel like it's better to sell on Instagram. It takes a while to build a following, but at least you won't have a website taking a cut of any money you might make.
