Boris Johnson’s letter to every household in the UK has come through the door - poor postman has to go to every house - and it is a bit late now, since Boris did not take his own advice and as I write is in Intensive Care with the virus.

Of course, I hope he gets well - and does not think he has to rush back to work. He will need lots of rest - and although I don’t think much of his choice of ministers they will have work together to sort things out - rather than see this as an opportunity to further their careers - not that it is likely anyway.

I am glad to say life goes on as before here - still the basic schedule - although added sun today. Always thinking about the implications of getting the virus - and careful to socially distance - not that I walk a round with fingers crossed.

Sad to say that an old colleague died today - in a care home - but unlikely to be the virus - he had been declining - and had dementia. It was cruel that a man who lived on his wits and had a way with words had that taken away. He had had a full life, two marriages, four children - and much pork swordsmanship along the way. He could be boring and exasperating - but more often good fun - and always very kind. A complicated character.
The pity is that his family was not there - and will not ab able to have him buried as he should have been.

So keep safe!!

This whole not getting closure through a funeral thing worries me.
Boris doesn’t appear to be on any breathing support so I’m presuming they’re just being cautious because he’s got the Top Job.

They are not very transparent about Boris - it is clear though there is a vacuum at the heart of government - and there are a lot of people in the Cabinet who are still keen to 'make a mark' for the future. Hope you are able to operate well yourself - always good to keep in touch
