Solitude in Poetry by Me

Today I could be with someone
And settle for less than I want
But when I meet someone
I always leave him for you

I see people everywhere together
They exchange smiles, words, and looks
They have fun, entertain each other, fall in love
I see it all and no one sees me

Instead I have you, my faithful love
You entertain me, you keep an eye on my back
You accept me as I am, my quirks, my flaws
We share no cross words or resentments
And we giggle as we hide together
Behind closed doors and dark curtains

My companion, my best friend, my lover
I call you by name: Solitude
